The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine by its decree No.725 as of August 14 has brought in some amendments into the rules of obligatory civil aviation insurance, the government reported on its website.
And according to the document, the amendments meant to optimize the level of minimum insurance sums (liability limits) for liability insurance of an airport operator (airdrome, helidrome) and certified ground handling operators for harm caused to third parties, as well as to simplify the procedure of fixing minimum insurance liability sums for ground handling operators, and also bring them to a single monetary unit of measurement.
The decree targets following minimum liability limits: Hr 130,000 for operator of permanent landing strip, Hr 5 million for operator of helidrome, Hr 5 million for airport/airdrome operator on ISAO with ‘E’ and ‘F’ code letters with no right for passenger-carrying operations, and Hr 1.624 billion for operators with a right for passenger-carrying operations.
The minimum insurance sum for certified ground handling operators, if the total annual number of aircraft (carrying both arrivals and departures) at the airport (airdrome, helidrome, permanent landing strip) reaches up to 1,000 units, is Hr 523,000, if servicing over 1,000 units a total sum is Hr 5 million.
In case the ground handling operator provides services with the total annual number of aircraft (carrying both arrivals and departures) from various groups, the minimum insurance amount is determined in accordance with the group in which the minimum insurance amount is the highest.
